A middle school student was arrested for having a weapon on campus.
Clark County School Police officials responded to Garside Middle School Wednesday after a student told school officials that another student had a BB gun.
The student was arrested without incident and taken to juvenile booking. According to CCSD Police, the student was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
A letter was released to the Garside Junior High School parent community Wednesday.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is Garside Junior High School Principal Scarlett Perryman.
In an effort to keep you informed of matters happening within our school community, I want to make you aware of an incident that occurred today after school dismissal.
The Clark County School District Police Department responded to a report of a BB gun on campus. The school was on a lockdown and officers located the weapon and arrested a student. There were no threats made against our students or staff.
The Garside staff and school police are praised for their immediate action in keeping students safe. Please take this opportunity to discuss school safety with your children. If they ever face a situation where they are unsure whether or not to share information with an adult, please remind them to never hesitate reporting anything that may be a safety issue.
