LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A southern Nevada shelter that offers refuge not only to survivors of domestic violence but to their pets, as well is getting a fantastic honor.
Noah’s Animal House, and its founder Staci Alonso, will be featured on “CNN Heroes.”
Noah’s Animal House works in partnership with the Shade Tree Shelter to keep entire families together as they transition out of abusive situations.
Over the past 12-years, Noah’s Animal House has helped more than 1,600 pets. It started in 2007, when founder Staci Alonso heard a heartbreaking story of a woman who wouldn’t get out of an abusive situation — because she would have to leave her kitten behind.
“Noah’s Animal House is built right on the campus of the women’s shelter, so that women don’t have to choose between leaving and leaving their pets behind,” Alonso said. “We just say welcome, we’re glad you’re here, it gets easier from here on out.”
The “CNN Heroes spotlight will shine on Noah’s Animal House Friday.
