UPDATE: 40-year-old man killed in crash at Tropicana, Polaris

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 40-year-old man is dead following a crash at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Polaris Avenue, according to Metro police.

The crash, which involved a Freightliner box truck and a Dodge Ram van, was reported at 12 p.m. on Monday, December 6.

According to police, the driver of the van, who has not been identified, traveled westbound in the right travel lane of Tropicana at Polaris.

The driver of the box truck has been identified as 69-year-old Agustin-Perez Filemon,

Police say Filemon was stopped in the right travel lane of Tropicana and Polaris.

According to the investigation, the driver of the van did not slow down and ended up hitting the rear of Filemon’s box truck.

The driver of the van died at the scene.

Filemon, remained on the scene and did not show signs of impairment.

This is the 137th traffic-related fatality in the Metro’s jurisdiction for 2021.

The crash remains under investigation.
