DRAMATIC VIDEO: NHP Trooper barely escapes being struck by vehicle, driver charged

Local News

NHP released the dash cam video from a crash over the weekend which left one of their troopers with minor injuries.

The driver, Benjamin Perri, who caused the crash was arrested for DUI. According to NHP, that driver crashed into the back of an NHP trooper vehicle pulled to the side of US  95 northbound near Ann Road.

The trooper, who has been identified Adam Whitmarsh, had pulled over another driver and was just walking back to his patrol vehicle when he spotted the driver heading toward him and jumped out of the way.

Perri was booked into the Las Vegas City Jail on DUI, reckless driving, no seatbelt, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to use due care and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

SIDE NOTE: Trooper Whitmarsh might sound familiar, and that’s because he is. He was profiled on Channel 8 for his heroism on 1 October, where he repeatedly headed back into the concert grounds to tie tourniquets, carry out the injured, and likely saved countless lives.  For that, he was honored as a Red Cross Everyday Hero.
