LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two teens were killed in a crash involving speeding early Wednesday morning in northeast Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The crash, which involved a single vehicle, was reported around 2:09 a.m. on E. Lake Mead Boulevard, near Los Feliz Street, which is east of Hollywood Boulevard.

Police said evidence and video surveillance showed the 17-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Blazer was speeding and lost control of the vehicle causing it to crash into a brick wall, ejecting the 18-year-old passenger. Both males died at the scene.

One of the teens was identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office on Thursday, Aug. 8. He was identified as Osvaldo Maldonado Sosoifa, 17, of Las Vegas. His cause of death is still pending.

The identity of the other teen will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office. These deaths are the 84th and 85th traffic-related fatalities in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2023.
