UPDATE: The motorcyclist killed in the accident on Saturday, June 4 has been identified as Ely resident 35-year-old Morgan Rene Arvizo.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS)— A motorcyclist is dead after a hit-and-run crash with a suspected DUI driver, according to Metro police.
The crash was reported on North Rancho Drive and West Turquoise Road on Saturday, around 7:15 p.m.
Metro police said the driver of a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Rancho, and a motorcyclist was traveling southbound. The collision occurred after the pickup made a left turn and collided with the motorcyclist and then hit a car stopped at the intersection.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead by arriving medical personnel.
Police said the driver of the pickup then attempted to flee the scene on foot but was taken into custody shortly afterward. The pickup truck driver reportedly showed signs of impairment and was booked in the Clark County Detention Center on DUI and hit-and-run charges.
