Crews battle 2 early-morning apartment fires

Local News

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to two apartment fires early Monday morning.

The first happened at a fourplex on Charleston Avenue, near Torrey Pines Drive. Firefighters say the fire started on an upper-floor balcony and then spread to the unit just after 3 a.m.

Several apartments were evacuated, but no one was hurt.

The second happened less than an hour later, at an apartment just south of The Palace Station.

Firefighters called a second alarm to battle this one. At one point, smoke from the fire covered part of the I-15.

Several apartment units were damaged, but no one was hurt.

Investigators are now working to determine how both flames started.
