Clark County is making sure it’s prepared for the New Year’s Eve crowds that will emerge onto the Las Vegas valley on Dec. 31.
Anyone walking around the Strip this week will notice metal gates going up along streets that cross Las Vegas Boulevard. They’ll be used to block traffic so hundreds of thousands of revelers can walk up and down the Strip to ring in the new year.
That’s not the only protection though: Massive trucks will also block access to the Strip to keep pedestrians safe.
Those planning to avoid the crowds and revel at home — join us! 8 News NOW will have full coverage of the New Years Eve celebrations with our Countdown to 2019 show. You can watch it on Channel 8. The fun begins at 8 p.m., and we’ll stay live past midnight when we show off the live fireworks show.
