LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 2-year-old child died after being struck by a 19-year-old driver in an SUV at a northeast valley park Monday evening.
The Clark County Coroner’s Officer has identified the child as Miguel Angel Morales of Las Vegas.
According to police, the incident occurred at the Douglas A. Selby park near Owens Avenue and Lamb Boulevard around 7:38 p.m.
Police said their initial investigation shows the driver was attempting to exit the park onto Henry Drive when the child ran into the path of her vehicle and was struck. Police said “excessive speed” was not a factor.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Morales unresponsive. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
