Clark County School District students got the chance to showcase their car repair skills Saturday.
Twenty teens from five different high schools competed in the 23rd annual Automotive Skills Competition at Findlay Volkswagen in Henderson.
The event featured various hands-on tests, from recognizing mechanical issues to diagnosing computer codes.
This day shows students what it’s like to be an automotive technician and gives them to potential to take classroom knowledge to a career.
“Technicians, they’re aging out, they’re starting to retire and there is a high demand for technicians not only in Clark County but in the nation,” said Brent Fujino, coordiantior, CCSD.
Winners from the event will move to the state level to compete at the national level in the 2019 Skills USA competition.
