LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are investigating a deadly crash at S. Fort Apache Road and Furnace Gulch Avenue. It’s a neighborhood near Fort Apache and Blue Diamond Road.
Metro Police say a 2016 Hyundai Accent was traveling south on Fort Apache and attempted to turn left onto Furnace Gulch. A 2016 Dodge Challenger traveling at a high rate of speed on northbound Fort Apache hit the passenger side of the Hyundai.
Both vehicles then slid off the roadway.
The driver of the Dodge —19-year-old Zaon Collins — was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. He also showed signs of impairment and was booked at the Clark County Detention Center.
Police say the 52-year-old man driving the Hyundai was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital. The Clark County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified the man as Eric Echevarria.
