The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement from Mary Beth Sewald, president, and CEO of the Metro Chamber, regarding the sad news that Nevada Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson passed away:
“On behalf of our Las Vegas Metro Chamber leaders and members, we send our heartfelt condolences to Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson’s family and pay tribute to his legacy of enhancing the quality of life in Southern Nevada. Assemblyman Thompson truly loved this community. He was dedicated to improving the lives of the people in his district, as well as the entire state. He worked to build consensus and find solutions to some of our biggest challenges such as education, homelessness, and recidivism, and he was actively involved in the Southern Nevada Forum from its inception. We valued his passion and collaboration with the Chamber on a variety of issues impacting our businesses and community.
Assemblyman Thompson was also a proud graduate of Leadership Las Vegas, Class of 2003, and was inducted into the Leadership Las Vegas Hall of Fame in 2018. He continued to dedicate his time to support the program, especially volunteering for Community Safety Net Day and Focus Las Vegas. He will truly be missed by the Chamber and Leadership Las Vegas family, and by the many people whose lives he touched and worked to improve.”
