Amy Fleming, mother arrested in cold case death of child, booked into Las Vegas City Jail

Amy Fleming, 60, formally Luster, has been booked into the Las Vegas City jail.  Fleming is facing an open murder charge for the death of her 3-year-old son, Francillon Pierre.

The boy was reported missing by Fleming and her then-boyfriend, Lee Luster on Aug. 2, 1986.   They say he disappeared when he was with them at the Broad Acres Swap Meet in North Las Vegas.

The case received national attention and resulted in hundreds of leads and tips, but nothing led to the boy’s whereabouts.

According to North Las Vegas Police, the majority of witnesses at the swap meet that day reported that they never saw the boy with his mother or stepfather.

NLV Police said neighbors also told investigators that Francillon had not been seen for weeks and had not been seen leaving the house with them prior to the alleged disappearance.

Besides, police said, the two had abused the boy and lied during interviews, but detectives did not have enough information, at the time, to prove they had anything to do with his disappearance.

In 2017, police started looking at the evidence in the case again after someone applied for Pierre’s birth certificate to commit identity theft. Among other evidence, they looked at letters between Fleming and Luster, while Luster was serving time and found damaging quotes.

“Detectives even went to the extent of piecing together multiple jail letters between Fleming and Luster that had been torn into dozens of small pieces,” North Las Vegas Police Chief Pamela Ojeda said. “Amy wrote in one of the letters, she stated, ‘What happened was totally unintentional, I’m sorry, I hope you know that.'”

Last week Fleming was arrested in Florida where she was living.  She was recently extradited to Nevada to face her alleged crimes.

Her bail is set at $1,000,000.00
