Students from a school on the west side of the Las Vegas valley will represent Nevada in a national mock trial competition next month.
The nine students from A-Tech were chosen to represent the state after winning the state championship in March. It was the first time a public school won the state championship since 2012.
Now, teachers and students are hoping to bring home the school’s first national championship.
“Nevada has never been in the championship round and if this is the first time, and it’s us, we’ve got to do what we have to do to bring it to A-Tech and Clark County — that would be an amazing experience,” said Jason Park, student.
“I love these kids. These kids are hard workers, they’re dedicated, they’re motivated; they work endlessly towards their goals, and I could not be prouder of them,” said Lara Bochard, teacher.
Local attorneys and a judge coach the A-Tech team.
A-Tech has a history of being ranked as the number one high school in the state by U.S. News Best High Schools. The National Mock Trial will be held in Athens, Georgia May 16-19.
