LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Saturday is April 20, which is a significant holiday among those who consume cannabis. The day is known as 420, which is a celebration of everything marijuana, so local dispensaries are expecting a big business boost.
The Grove dispensary says it’s already seeing an uptick in customers.
“We have pre-rolls, we have grams, we have 1/8ths,” said Grove Budtender Shalina Thienes.
Thienes says she’s been going non-stop for days, helping locals and tourists alike find exactly what they’re looking to buy.
“When you look at like a label, it’s kind of like an equation, right,” Thienes asked. “You have your parent strains; you have your turbines; you have your cannabinoids.”
The cash registers have been very busy since Wednesday morning, and that’s when more and more people began coming here ahead of 4/20.
By the end of the week, the grove is seeing roughly 50 percent more business coming through the door as people stock up for 4/20.
All of the orders coming into the budtenders are keeping runners very busy.
Marijuana sales continue to spike across the silver state, but 4/20 may be one of the busiest days in the budding industry’s history. It’s the green version of Black Friday.
“It’s like Disneyland, but at Christmas time, it’s kind of like that,” Thienes said.
Most dispensaries will be offering discounts throughout the day, and lines are expected to be out the door at many locations.
