Las Vegas Marathon changing start line, course in 2018

The 2018 edition of the Las Vegas Rock `n’ Roll Marathon will have a different start line and course.

The race scheduled for Nov. 11 will begin near the MGM Grand casino-resort. Organizers on Thursday said the course will have more mileage on the Las Vegas Strip than in previous years.

Runners will head south on the Strip from the start line; turn north at the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” sign; pass the Bellagio, Venetian and other casino-resorts; go through downtown Las Vegas; and finish in front of The Mirage casino-resort.

The course last year was adjusted to begin in front of the New York-New York casino-resort after a gunman weeks earlier killed 58 people from his suite at the Mandalay Bay casino-resort, where the race was originally set to begin.
