Knights fever proves to be very profitable for local bars

News

The fact that the Las Vegas valley can’t get enough of the Vegas Golden Knights is nothing but good news for local businesses profiting from hockey fever.

Bars all over town are cashing in on the frenzy. Take Ashley Errison and Shannyn Masten: Monday night wasn’t game night for the Knights, but the two, along with many other fans still flocked to a local bar. They wanted to watch the two teams in the Eastern Conference to see who the Kights will face off against.

“This is our little spot,” Errison said.
“Everybody’s here for a purpose, and that’s to cheer on the Knights,” according to Masten.”

Masten and Errison typically like to watch the Vegas Born hockey team ironically at a bar called Born and Raised.

“They’re one of us,” said Scotty Godino, the owner of Born and Raised. “We’re all a family in here.”

Godino is the mastermind behind the bar that has catered to, for almost 8 years, locals rooting on teams from around the country.

Now, Born and Raised is an official Vegas Golden Knights bar.

“It was that important to make sure they could have all the support they can get,  Godino said.

Godino says hundreds of people fill his bar every Golden Knights game. Fans like Masten and Errisson say they always bring a group of friends, and all of them are always ready to spend some celebratory cash.

“It’s like 50-60 bucks,” Masten said. “Othertimes, if we live here for a night it’s like $100.”

“From September to June is now considered our busy season,” Godino said.

Godino says years ago he would have never envisioned owning a bar that catered to locals where people cheered on a team that was Vegas born.

“Being even labeled as the Vegas misfits; it fits in perfectly with us,” Godino said. “They embody Vegas more than we could have ever asked for.”
