Clark County District Judge Elissa Cadish issued an order Tuesday to unseal search warrant records in the investigation related to the mass shooting on Oct. 1 in Las Vegas.
A lawsuit was filed by local and national media organizations to make the documents public.
The ruling said, the court finds that the vast majority of the documents don’t contain any information that would compromise the ongoing investigation. However, there will be the redaction of a couple of phrases in each of the search warrant affidavits to protect the ongoing investigation.
Attorney’s for Metro police had argued against unsealing the documents saying it could impact their investigation because charges were being considered for another person.
Metro released the following statement after learning of the judge’s ruling:
“We are unable to comment at this time as it is still under investigation”
