Islander’s ride Halak’s strong goaltending to hold off Golden Knights 2-1

News

New York Islander’s goaltender Jaroslav Halak was stellar as his team won on the road in a place many visitors have come out on the short end of the stick.

The Islanders handed the Golden Knights only their third loss at T-Mobile Arena in a 2-1 victory with Halak registering 38 saves Thursday night.

A late surge fell short for the Golden Knights after defenseman Erik Haula ended the shutout bid on a powerplay goal at the 14:53 mark of the third period.

The Islanders game-winning goal came from Jordan Eberle after Knight’s defenseman Colin Miller’s turnover in his defensive end.

The Golden Knights next game will be January 30 at Calgary after the All-Star Break this weekend in Tampa, Florida.
