The iconic Palace Station’s marquee which is the last train-themed remnant on the property is being dismantled today.
The sign was first unveiled in 1983. The property started as the Bingo Palace and as it grew, there was a contest held to name the casino. A Las Vegas woman won first place with her suggestion of “Palace Station.” It also allowed the owners to introduce the idea of a train concept.
Now, the company is ushering in a new era with $192 million in renovations and modernization. There will be new restaurants and bars, renovated rooms, a new casino exterior, a 9-screen movie complex and updated gaming floor. Everything should be completed by the end of 2018.
