A former lieutenant with Metro Police has been arrested after being indicted by a state grand jury Wednesday.
James Melton is accused of being part of a guardianship scam, along with April Parks, Mark Simmons and Noel Palmer Simpson who were also indicted.
Melton faces multiple charges including exploitation of an older person, theft, and grand larceny.
According to the indictment, the group worked together to exploit an elderly couple out of more than $700,000.
For Parks, Simmons and Simpson, these charges are on top a 270-count wide-ranging indictment against them in March of last year for other guardianship cases.
Melton has been relieved of duty with Metro, where he’s worked since 1994.
