The City of Henderson is sending three schools: Basic High School, Greenspun Junior High, and Nate Mack Elementary to Louisville, Kentucky for the VexIQ World Competition, a worldwide robotics contest April 22-26 featuring 15,000 tech-savvy students.
Maybe most impressive, at Nate Mack Elem. they just started a robotics team! The 5th grade students have found swift success with a true team mentality.
Henderson Chamber of Commerce is stepping in, and stepping up, to help these local students travel to the world competition.
The competition involves kids given pieces to build with, starting from scratch, right through the engineering design process, collaborating, creating, trial and error, and eventually constructing a robot to play a game where the robot scores points, completing specific tasks.
The older students from Basic H.S. and Greenspun Junior High guide, tutor, and mentor younger students at Nate Mack. Technological wisdom is passed on freely, with an eye on future student success.
Best of luck to Basic High School, Greenspun Junior High, and Nate Mack Elem! Onto Louisville, Kentucky and the chance of success on a world stage!
