Clark County School District Police arrested a 58-year-old woman for child abuse.

Melody Carter, a teacher, was arrested Friday on one count of felony child abuse for an incident involving a student.

The arrest stems from an investigation that was initiated at Harley A. Harmon Elementary School in May 2018.

The investigation, conducted by the CCSD Police Department detective bureau, substantiated the allegations.

Carter has been serving as a teacher at the elementary school and was hired by CCSD in September 1996. Her employment status with CCSD is currently listed as “assigned to home.”

Following her arrest, Carter was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
