A group is coming together to push back against potential development at a Henderson golf course.
The Black Mountain Golf Course has been closed since November 2018 after going bankrupt.
It’s back on the agenda at Henderson’s city council meeting.
Some people said it’s more than a fairway, it’s about their community that surrounds it. A group called “Save Black Mountain” is calling for hundreds of people to join them at the meeting in hopes of getting the city council to put the brakes on new development.
“When we drive around our community, wherever we live, to see parks, to see open spaces, golf course, even if you’re not a golfer or don’t play in the park, it just adds a benefit to you as a community. Not just to see house after house,” said Denell Hahn, a neighbor in the area.
8 News Now reached out to the City of Henderson for comment.
The City of Henderson responded that a proposal had been submitted to build new homes, but it expired. They plan to also release a report explaining how the Black Mountain Golf Course will be maintained while it’s closed.
