Golden Knights fever takes over: Could Las Vegas be nation’s next hockey town?

The Vegas Golden Knights: Ever since they’ve skated into Sin City they have taken our city by storm.  According to some hockey fans, the Vegas-born team is close to nabbing Detroit’s hockey town title.

In fact, national news outlets are calling Las Vegas the nation’s next hockey town!

8 News NOW spoke with a few fans Wednesday about the community’s pro sports craze.

“This is fantastic. This is a dream come true,” one Golden Knights’ fan said.

As the hockey hype continues to sweep the city, in addition to the games, some fans go to the Golden Knights’ practice to cheer them on, while others take another step with their support.

Knights haircuts, car decals, tattoos and even flags…are all the rage right now.

“I’m a Chicagoan, said Mark Sivek, a Golden Knights fan.  “The Blackhawks are supposed to be my team, but this is my team now.”

Joey Hamilton owns Revolt Tattoos, and he heads out to every home game to ink fans right outside the T-Mobile Arena.

“It’s definitely cool that they asked us to do it,” Hamilton said.
“I think people were in line for four hours, probably about four to five hours early because they want to be first in line.”

As dozens line up to get a symbol of their die-hard dedication, the love that they have, the love that so many other fans have for the Golden Knights also brings the Las Vegas valley community together.

“I can say by going to the games that yes, the fans are awesome and they stand behind their team,” said Hamilton.

To create a pro sports culture unlike anywhere else in the country.

“This hockey team has taken the town by storm! Go,” said George, a fan!

“It’s amazing,” one fan said. “This is what this city needed.”
