A former pastor just convicted Thursday for sexually assaulting minors has been slapped with 22 new sexual charges.
Prosecutors say five additional victims came forward with claims of inappropriateness against the 59-year-old.
“There’s a total of 22 new charges and they are again — the ages of young children — 6, and 7 through adults,” said Robert Langford, prosecutor.
All 22 of the new charges involve women ages six and seven through adulthood.
Thursday afternoon a jury convicted Holland on all charges of sexual assault of a minor under the age of 16, and one count of lewdness with a minor.
“It’s like hearing you won the lottery,” one victim said. “It’s the greatest thing to ever hear because you don’t have to worry about it anymore.”
“You put so much trust into someone or somebody. This isn’t just a person but a person wrapped around faith,” the victim’s mother said.
Holland was charged with 17 felony counts of sexual assault and lewdness, along with misdemeanor counts of witness tampering and conspiracy to destroy evidence.
During his trial, Holland took the stand in his own defense. During his testimony Holland claimed the accusations were false.
Holland’s Defense Attorney: “Did you force yourself upon her?”
Holland: “No I didn’t, and I want a lie detector test?”
Prosecuting Attorney: “Objection Your Honor. May we approach?” Holland: “I want them to know the truth.”
Langford said it was clear he was lying.
“At one point I determined that there was nothing else to be gained,” Langford said. “The jury saw through his baffling buffoonery and it was obvious he wasn’t telling the truth.”
Holland faces life in prison. He will be sentenced for this case on March 16.
Holland is expected to go to trial for the 22 new charges next week.
