Firefighter injured during east Las Vegas mobile home fire

News

The Clark County Fire Department says an officer was injured while battling a home fire at 3559 Lost Hills Drive around 8:52 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a double-wide mobile home with heavy fire showing from multiple doors and windows.  The heavy fire dictated that firefighters not only attack the main body of fire but that they also protect the neighboring mobile homes so they would not catch on fire.  Once the main body of fire was knocked down firefighters made a rapid search of the mobile home looking for anyone who may have been trapped in the fire.  No one was located.

At the time the fire started the three occupants of the home were all asleep.  One occupant woke up to the smell of smoke, alerted the other two occupants and together they escaped the burning residence just before the fire crew arrived. One person was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries when he stepped on a section of floor that collapsed. Unfortunately, several cats did die in the fire.
