An investigation is underway at a building on South Jones Boulevard near Desert Inn Road after a late night fire that left one firefighter injured.

Flames and heavy smoke were reported just before 11 p.m. at a restaurant in a strip mall. 

Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to connecting businesses. Firefighters determined the fire was burning inside the roof and moving through the structure. Crews were able to get ahead of the fire and stop its progress.

Sixty-seven firefighters responded to the 2-alarm fire. One firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and no dollar loss has been established.
