A former family court judge has been banned from the bench for life, according to the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline.
Ex-Judge Steven Jones is accused of misconduct and attempting to execute and devise a scheme to defraud individuals for money or property using false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, half-truths, and promises.
The decision was reached by the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline on Jan. 8. The documents were filed in court on Mar. 1.
According to court documents, the objective of the alleged scheme was to get victims to invest money in fake projects, so that they could convert the proceeds of the investment for their own use and purpose.
One of the fake projects was an offering to invest in water rights associated with unspecified large parcels of land located in the southwestern part of the United States.
