DUI suspect in deadly motorcycle crash had suspended license

Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver in a suspected DUI crash involving a motorcycle as 47-year-old Juan Valtierrex.

The crash happened Sunday around 1 a.m.

Valtierrez was driving a Cadillac and ran a red light at Flamingo and I-15 striking a pick-up truck which then hit the motorcyclist, NHP said. 

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. He has been identified as 52-year-old Keith Welshiemer of Las Vegas.

The driver of the pick-up truck was also transported for injuries.

Valtierrez is facing felony DUI charges, reckless driving resulting in death, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to render aid, resisting a public officer, speeding, resident with non-Nevada driver’s license and registration and driving on a suspended driver’s license.
