Dozen or more power poles knocked down near Sunset and Valley View

As many as 13 power poles are down along the 6400 block of Polaris Avenue near Sunset Road and Valley View Boulevard.

The poles were knocked down due to a accident involving a forklift around 11:45 a.m., according to NV Energy.

The traffic signal at Valley View and Sunset is not working and 645 customers are without power.

A spokesperson for NV Energy says a fork lift accidentally ran into the lines Friday afternoon, and caused a domino effect that took out 13 power poles.  o

NV Energy crews are working to get the lines back up and running, but customers in the area are expected to be without power for the next two days. The incident happened in an industrial area so no residents were affected.

Businesses in the area said they will have employees working from home until power is completely restored.
