Critical injury crash shuts down Maryland Parkway and Charleston Blvd.

Metro Police investigated a critical injury crash Friday in the central Las Vegas area.

Metro said it happened near S. Maryland Parkway and E. Charleston Boulevard.  Traffic has been completely shut down in the area.

A 2005 Dodge Magnum was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed and proceeded to run a red light hitting a 2005 Ford Mustang according to police.

The passenger in the Magnum is listed in extremely critical condition at University Medical Center Trauma with brain and neck injuries. The driver was removed from the vehicle by medical personnel and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Police say the driver of the Ford Mustang was also transported to UMC with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash involves two vehicles.

There weren’t many details released by police, but drivers should avoid the area.
