One person is dead and two others have life-threatening injuries following a crash that involved a tractor-trailer Monday near the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Washington Avenue.

The intersection remains closed as police investigate the crash which happened around 10:40 a.m.

According to police, a pick up truck ran a red light at the intersection and hit the tractor-trailer which overturned and crushed a car killing the driver and slide into building.

The driver of the pick up is one of the two people being treated for life-threatening injuries.

One witness said he couldn’t believe how quickly the crash happened.

“It just feels like you’re powerless,” said Sergio Arellano. “You can’t do anything to help anybody.”

Metro Police say the driver of the pick up will be tested for drug use.

The tractor-trailer driver works for Nicholas and Company, a food distributor, who is sending their deepest condolences out to the victim’s family.

Investigators are asking motorists to continue to avoid the intersection while this investigation continues.
