The coroner’s office says 30-year-old Salvador Gradilla Moran was the construction worker crushed to death by heavy equipment as he dug a trench in the Las Vegas area Saturday.

The Clark County Coroner’s office said Monday the cause of Moran’s death is pending.

Nevada’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating. A spokeswoman for the agency says a preliminary report likely wouldn’t be available for at least a couple of months.

Las Vegas Police Officer Larry Hadfield says Moran’s death was an accident and isn’t being investigated by police. He says workers were digging a trench when Moran fell in and was hit by the equipment. He doesn’t know who Moran worked for or what workers were constructing at 1160 Granite Ridge.

The west Las Vegas neighborhood is primarily residential.
