Clark County approves new round of bollard construction on Las Vegas Strip

Construction will soon get underway on a new round of bollards set to make Las Vegas Boulevard safer for pedestrians.

At Tuesday’s Clark County Commission meeting, commissioners approved the construction of more than 600 bollards on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard between Spring Mountain and Tropicana.  On the west side, bollards will be placed beginning at Sahara and stretching 1,500 feet south along Las Vegas Boulevard.

Bollards can help thwart attacks, as well as keep drivers off the sidewalk.  The barriers are strong enough to stop a flatbed truck traveling at 55mph.

Unicon LLC is the construction company that was awarded the contract.
