A 7-year-old child was hospitalized Thursday when she was bitten by a dog in Bullhead City.

According to officers, the child was walking down the street in the 500 block of Havasu Lane when a 3-year-old black and brown Rottweiler left his yard and attacked her.  The owner of the dog came outside and pulled the dog off of the girl.

Neighbors in the area were also helping the child when Bullhead City Police and Animal Care & Welfare Bureau officers arrived.

The little girl was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries.  According to police, she suffered non-life threatening injuries to her arms and shoulders.

The owner of the dog, Allison Marie Smith, 44, will be cited for dog at large.  The dog is being held in a mandatory 10-day quarantine.
