Carjacking leads to shooting in the northeast valley


Police are investigating a carjacking that later turned into a shooting in the northeast valley.

According to Metro Police, the incident occurred at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Butternut Lane and Walnut Road, near East Owens Avenue. Investigators say that a suspect was trying to steal a vehicle when a witness pulled out a gun and began firing.

The suspect and witness proceeded to exchange gunfire, but the suspect managed to get in the vehicle and leave the scene.

Police say another witness began firing at the suspect.

No one was injured and the stolen vehicle was recovered near the scene.

The suspect is still at-large, according to Metro Police.
