Like a scene out of a movie, a group of masked men stormed the Bellagio and burglarized a high-end jewelry store early Saturday morning.
Three of the four crooks are still on the run as of Monday, despite the video and photographs surfacing of the crime.
“We actually saw people running, kind of like, underground and screaming,” said a witness who didn’t want to give her name.
The band of brazen thieves wore animal masks as they used sledgehammers to make entry into the store and then smash the glass of several jewelry cases, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The ruckus sent guests running. Police and security arrived in full force.
“They shut us down. They told us not come downstairs. We had a fountain view. We went to the window, and we heard screams,” the witness said.
The group made several unsuccessful carjacking attempts while trying to get away before running off, police said.
Officers caught one suspect, 20-year-old Sebastian Gonzalez, before he could make it to Las Vegas Boulevard.
Gonzalez faces multiple charges including robbery, burglary, conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted robbery.
“My husband started to count the police cars, and I thought he was just kidding, so when he got to the 20th car, that’s when I jumped up out of my seat,” the witness said.
Our witness, a guest at Bellagio, says she’ll be looking over her shoulder for the rest of her vacation.
“I’m not comfortable anymore. I thought this was a very protected area so to speak. So I’m just afraid,” the witness said.
The only description police gave of the three other suspects is that they are males. One was wearing a white cat mask, and another had on a panda mask during the heist.
