2 women arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into prison

Two visitors were arrested while visiting the Ely State Prison on Feb. 4.  According to the Nevada Department of Corrections, while the women attempted to smuggle drugs into the prison during their visit.

Detectives seized approximately 27 grams of methamphetamine from Daveonda Neal, 19, and Tonya Alexander, 35. Both women are from North Las Vegas.

Both Neal and Alexander are charged with trafficking a controlled substance 4-14 grams (Methamphetamine), transporting a controlled substance (Methamphetamine), and attempted
furnishing of a controlled substance to a state prisoner. Neal and Alexander are being held on $150,000 bail.

The women were busted by the Eastern Nevada Narcotic Task Force, which consists of the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Investigation Division, Nevada Department of Corrections, White Pine County Sheriff’s Office, Eureka County Sheriffs Office, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
