Metro Police arrested two people Thursday for murder kidnapping and a host of other charges.
According to Metro, on Feb. 7 around 3:50 a.m., officers were called to the 3300 block of Robin Nest Court near W. Desert Inn Road and S. Hualapai Way for a report of a woman screaming and being forced into a grey BMW.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds inside the home. The victim was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Metro’s homicide detectives discovered that 27-year-old Joseph Fernandez forced his way into the home armed with a handgun. While inside, Fernandez shot a man before forcing a woman into a grey BMW sedan and fleeing the area. Fernandez drove the victim to an apartment located near the 5100
block of Torrey Pines where he met up with 26-year-old Jessica Tolentino-Arciga.
Police say TolentinoArciga helped Fernandez restrain the victim inside the apartment. Shortly after, Tolentino-Arciga left the apartment to see if officers were in the area.
During the course of the incident, the victim was able to escape from the apartment. She walked to a store near Tropicana Avenue and Jones Boulevard where she called 9-1-1.
At approximately 4:27 a.m., the LVMPD Air unit located a grey BMW matching the description of the suspect vehicle driving recklessly near Jones Boulevard and Russell Road.
Marked patrol units pursued the suspect vehicle to the northbound I-15 and Tropicana Avenue exit. Patrol units were able to forcefully stop the suspect vehicle by utilizing the Precision Intervention Technique (PIT).
Fernandez was immediately taken into custody. During the course of the investigation, Tolentino-Arciga was arrested inside the apartment where the victim had been held.
Fernandez is currently at the Clark County Detention Center, and he faces the following charges:
- Open Murder
- Burglary with Weapon
- Kidnapping 1st Degree
- Conspiracy Kidnapping 1st Degree
- Conspiracy Murder
- Home Invasion with Deadly Weapon
- Burglary while possession of gun
- Driver Disobey peace officer, endangering other people
- Battery with Deadly Weapon
Tolentino-Arciga is also in CCDC and faces charges for:
- Kidnapping, 1st Degree
- Conspiracy Kidnapping, 1st Degree
- Conspiracy Murder
