2 men arrested for shooting death of man in North Las Vegas


North Las Vegas Police arrested two men for their alleged involvement in the shooting death of another man Sunday night.

Officers said the shooting happened just before 11 p.m. in the 2000 block of East Tonopah Avenue.  When North Las Vegas Police arrived to the area, they found a Hispanic male suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Medical personnel arrived and transported the man to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

According to detectives, preliminary investigation indicates the victim, whose identity has not been released, was attending a party when he got into an argument with 19-year-old Fernando Corales, just outside the residence.  

During the altercation, Corales pulled out a handgun and shot the male victim, police said. Then, 27-year-old Hugo Lopez came outside and also shot at the victim, according to North Las Vega Police. 

Corales and Hugo were subsequently booked at the Las Vegas City Detention Center for the charges of murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder with a deadly weapon.  

The Coroner’s Office will release the identity, and cause and manner of death, pending notification of next of kin.
