Two more people have died from the flu, according to the Southern Nevada Health District’s latest flu report.
The deaths occurred the week of Jan. 21 and both people were 65 years or older. The district has been compiling statistics for this flu season since Oct. 1, 2017. Of the 18 people who have died, 10 were 65 or older.
According to the CDC, this flu season is one of the worst in 10 years and is particularly widespread. Nevada is one of 42 states experiencing a lot of flu cases.
There have been nearly 700 people hospitalized in Clark County, compared to same time last year when 250 were hospitalized.
Those most at risk are young children and adults over the age of 65.
