Rocky has worked in the visual arts industry for more than 15 years. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada where she graduated from the College of Southern Nevada in 2003 as an award-winning commercial photographer. Her work has been published in magazines, on billboards and book covers.
Diversifying her own portfolio, Rocky also studied international business, sales and hospitality. During a study abroad program in Chengdu, China she completed an immersive Mandarin language program and represented the tech company she interned with at trade shows in Guangzhou, China and Gothenburg, Sweden – playing an integral role in helping it reach multinational status.
She returned stateside in 2012 to dabble in the business of real estate in New York City and expand her network.
Her travels and multicultural experiences inspired her to create a blog that earned her marketing campaigns, brand partnerships, and content creation contracts with companies such as MGM Resorts International and Google.
As an early adopter of livestream broadcasting, she has had the opportunity to speak on panels as an industry leader on topics such as “Marketing to Millennials” and “Remote Livestream Production.”
While privately consulting, she worked with the Clark County School District (CCSD) as a full-time Guest Teacher and has guest lectured at University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) in the Journalism Department. It was there she was encouraged to show the next generation how to use digital storytelling to break into the traditional news media industry.
Rocky transitioned to working in journalism in October of 2019 when she joined the 8 News Now Digital Team as a Live Producer.
Along with the rest of the Digital Team, she publishes online stories and creates social media content so that KLAS leads with news that is Live.Local.NOW.
In early 2021, she built a Digital Studio for KLAS-TV to accelerate this effort, producing live segments to capture the attention of viewers in real-time from their mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers.
Rocky enjoys staying up to date with the latest in livestream video technology, so you can find her at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas doing research, beta-testing new platforms and upgrading her own home studio.
