Monica O. Jackson is an Emmy Award winning journalist, news anchor and host of the Mondays With Monica segment on the Las Vegas CBS affiliate, KLAS CH. 8 News Now, which launched on October 19, 2020 and airs Mondays at 6:45 A.M. PST.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Monica has over 30 years of experience in radio and television. Her passion for her profession was supported by her true love and high school sweetheart – turned husband, Delano. Monica received a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Weber State University.
Monica began her career in 1995 when she was welcomed to the team at WCHB-AM, a leading radio station in Detroit. The station originally hired Monica as the afternoon news anchor for the John Arnold News/Talk Show. However, after only two days on the air, management immediately recognized her natural talent and ability to engage listeners, hiring Monica as the morning news anchor on the FM side. Her presence on the team was an immediate success and the show, known as “The Breakfast Jam,” made it to the No. 2 spot in the ratings in less than one year.
In 1996, her infectious personality was recognized by FOX 2 News in Detroit where she was hired as the morning news team in-studio traffic anchor. Less than one year later, Monica was hired by Detroit’s WXYZ Channel 7 as its morning news traffic anchor.
The next stop on Monica’s journey was as the morning traffic anchor at WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Monica then worked as a morning news anchor and entertainment show host for the Las Vegas FOX affiliate for 14 years.
Monica left the station in 2018 to expand her MOJ brand with a daily podcast and now is currently developing her own national talk show, the MOJ Show that will be filmed and broadcast from the Las Vegas Strip. The show focuses on the talent, people and opportunities found in the great City of Las Vegas, and those that travel to Las Vegas from all over the world. Jackson and her husband own a talent management & production company, and they are proud parents of one teenage son.
Whenever possible, Monica dedicates her energy to giving back to numerous charitable organizations, including her H.A.R.M.ony (Hope And Relief Mission) segment of the MOJ Show.
