
Lauren Negrete joined 8 News Now as a Reporter in January 2023. A SoCal native, she is very excited and grateful to be in Las Vegas and share the many stories here.
Negrete earned her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She graduated with honors.
She worked as a Bureau Reporter in Coos Bay, Oregon for two years. She transferred to the main station in Eugene, Oregon for another year. She jumped on the opportunity to fill in as a News Anchor and Weather Anchor. She embedded herself within the communities, learned and reported on important issues, and highlighted community features.
During her time in Oregon, Lauren reported on the historic wildfires around Lane County, the pandemic, presidential and state governmental races, and unique stories. Lauren reported on the four-year-old “superhero” big sister who was the perfect bone marrow match for her infant brother. The story went on to be shared nationally and on CNN. She also completed a special report on Eugene’s black history, exclusionary laws, and the Mims family, who sheltered black traveling musicians including Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nat King Cole.
Lauren enjoys getting involved in the community. She starred in local productions of the Broadway hit, “Avenue Q”, and Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None”, in Coos Bay, OR, and emceed an NAACP event in Eugene, OR.
Lauren enjoys reading, writing, theater performances, photography, dancing, and hiking. She feels privileged to call the entertainment capital of the world home and looks forward to exploring the foodie scene and arts in Las Vegas.
