Julia Romero


Julia is a digital content producer at 8 News Now. 

Previously she worked as an evening newscast producer at KSNV News 3 and the CW Las Vegas for seven years. 

She received a Regional Edward R. Murrow and Emmy Award in 2017 for breaking news coverage during the 1 October shooting.

Julia produced and boothed the first 4 hours of breaking news coverage that evening and into the early morning hours the following day. 

She previously received three Emmy nominations from 2015 to 2017 for special team coverage of 1 October, breaking/spot news coverage of a deadly Strip crash in 2016, and in 2015 for coverage following a deadly shooting involving two Metro police officers who were ambushed while on their lunch break.

Prior to moving to Las Vegas, Julia reported, produced and anchored at an ABC affiliate in Idaho where she covered news throughout southeast Idaho and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. 

One of the most memorable stories while reporting there include getting to meet and cover a special visit from the 14th Dalai Lama in 2005. 

Julia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Spanish from Brigham Young University – Idaho. She also previously attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she studied Electronic Journalism and Ethnic studies.

Julia began her career in news while in high school, where she interned at the CBS, NBC, and ABC affiliates before graduating from high school.
