Christian Cazares joined 8 News Now in 2020 and is a ten-time Emmy Award winning bilingual journalist. Christian co- anchors the 4 p.m. newscasts and reports for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news broadcasts as well as the Spanish news briefs on 8 News Now’s Spanish news web page and social media platforms 8 News Now En Español.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Christian has traveled from coast to coast reporting on stories that impact all the community.
Among some of the most notable reporting that Christian has covered include the: California Wildfires, the casino downfall of Atlantic City, the 2015 Papal Visit to Philadelphia and the Presidential Debates between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton in 2016. During his career, Christian reported to English and Spanish-speaking audiences the devastation that Hurricane Irma left in Miami in 2017 as well some of the most notable terror attack investigations in New Jersey and New York City.
Prior to joining KLAS-TV’s 8 News Now, Christian was a reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as, Philadelphia, New Jersey and San Diego. But Las Vegas has a special place in his heart, as it was one of the cities where Christian nurtured his passion for journalism and it is this same passion that brings him back a second time to Las Vegas, the city he now calls home.
Christian has also served on the Board of the Pacific Southwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has been recognized for his journalistic career by the NAACP, the Society of Professional Journalists, the San Diego Press Club, Congress and the Senate.
Before starting his career in journalism, he graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay.
