Can you imagine adopting four children all at once? A local couple not only imagined it, they did it. So today, we profile the kids for the third, and last time, on Wednesday's Child.
In this house life is busy, and fun, and full of family.
"Sometimes its chaos, sometimes its a lot of -- there's days your like, ‘Whoa, my gosh,' but that's what you do with any kid. But overall, what we have together as a family is great. Every day is great," says Chuck, the adoptive father.
Chuck was the guy watching Wednesday's Child one evening in May of 2007 when he first saw Heather, Sophia, Jack and Hannah. He rushed to tell his wife Nancy. "'Hey, I just saw it on Wednesday's Child. Take a look at it on the internet, I got to go, I'll be back.' And she's like, ‘What are we thinking,' you know?"
What they didn't know is that the same children were featured on Wednesday's Child almost exactly a year before. What they did know is that they were meant to adopt those kids.
"Once we started, I knew completely we were getting the kids, and it was a calling that we knew we were getting them," said Chuck.
"It's provided us our family, you know. Without adoption, we wouldn't have our family," says Nancy.
Actually, the sibling set of four is on top of two other children they had already adopted years before. Has it been tough? "Yeah, there have been some tough times, but there have been many, many rewarding times. And it's those rewarding times that carry you through."
Maybe Heather says it best, "How it kind of feels like, how we're all together, and it feels like we've all been a family forever."
Nancy and Chuck say it's not out of the question for them to adopt again, but I think you'll agree they have their hands full.
