Cool at School: Job Fair

Posted: Updated:

It is one thing to tell a middle school student about a possible future career but it is quite another to show it to them. That's what is happening at Woodbury Middle School.

This is a day unlike any other at Woodbury Middle School where the students are discovering what they might want to do for a living at a unique job fair.

"It just gets you all the different careers, you get to see the different things," said Elizabeth Pacholke, a 7th grader.

"Seeing what type of salaries prepares you for the future. Seeing what you actually like, so it's pretty cool," said Durrell McDonald, an 8th grader.

So, what's the number one question kids want to ask a fireman? "What's the hardest thing we see and what's the worst call we've been on? I tell them it's the loss of life and loss of kids and we are always trying to teach public safety," said Frank Munoz, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

On this day, nearly 100 local businesses spent time with the kids answering questions and opening their minds.

"Just for students to understand that they need to have a future goal, career, education-wise so they can move forward with that and work towards something. To have a goal is the goal," said Nancy Eichten, Job Fair organizer.
