Shipping Deadlines For Holiday Gifts to Troops Overseas

LAS VEGAS -- Millions of pounds of mail will be sent during the holiday season to troops overseas. The United States Postal Service has released the dates when packages must be mailed in order to reach their destination.

The recommended deadline for Parcel Post was Nov. 12. In most cases, Express Mail can be sent until Dec. 17 and still arrive in time for Christmas. First-Class Mail and Priority Mail should be sent by Dec. 10 unless it is addressed to APO/FPO/DPO AE Zip 093 and then it should be mailed by Dec. 3. Military members often say that getting holiday mail is vitally important to troops  and if given a choice, most would skip dinner rather than not get any mail.
